Dayton’s Oregon District Halloween Party
October 16, 2007
The biggest Halloween Party in Dayton happens every year in the Oregon District. Wild, raucous, rowdy- everything you could ask for in a great costume party. 5th Street gets blocked- foot traffic only. This year there will be a Jumbotron playing clips from our favorite horror movies, and as always, business doors are flung open and the spirited partiers spill in and out of the best restaurants and clubs in Dayton. It’s another fun thing to do in Dayton.
The promotional poster is below- isn’t it gorgeous?
Inside the Excelsior Lofts
October 12, 2007

This is a photo of the 3rd floor, northeast corner of the Excelsior Loft condos in Dayton Ohio. This corner has a view of 5th St. and the Oregon District, including the painted railroad bridge.
The fantastic concrete columns stay exposed in each loft. Depending on your personal taste, the exposed pillars can be left as is, or become a canvas for expressing your style- anything from dramatic to sublime.
The site is huge and the floor plans are flexible so if you want to own an entire floor, that can be arranged.

Excelsior Lofts: Close to the Arts in Dayton
October 2, 2007
Daytonians are a lucky group, and the urbanites know this better than anyone else. Dayton has some of the best regional artistic companies in the country, and the venues are world class as well. Living in the Oregon District means you are in the midst of it all.
Schedules and more later, for now here are a few links to get you started looking to see the variety and quality of Art and Cultural opportunities that are within a few blocks of the Excelsior Lofts. You will never again have to wonder if there are things to do in Dayton.
Excelsior Lofts Amenities: Private Wine Cellars
October 2, 2007
Do you love fine wine? Do you long for a place to store your wines? How about a wine tasting room?
Tom Tornatore, developer of the Excelsior Lofts, is excited about the possibilities he has planned for a wine cellar at the lofts. Climate controlled and private storage for each loft as well as a common wine tasting room is only the beginning. Tom’s feeling is that fine wine should be cherished in an environment that is as lovingly crafted as the wine itself. You can go to Wine Cellar Innovations to see some of the inspiration that Tom is drawing from.
Have any ideas of your own? What would you want to see in a private and common wine cellar?
Dayton gets its urban on
October 1, 2007
A few weeks ago, DaytonMostMetro started an interesting discussion about the feeling among some city dwellers that Realtors were steering clients to particular neighborhoodsin the Dayton area, and away from other neighborhoods. Steering is illegal. Real estate agents cannot tell clients where to live. According to the comments on the DMM post, there are people who feel they were strongly encouraged by Realtors, and friends, and relatives, not to live in the city of Dayton.
I have listings in the city of Dayton (including the Excelsior Lofts). I see the fierce camaraderie of residents there. I know that some people have opinions of particular areas, but, if you want to hear about living in Dayton, go to the horse’s mouth. Visit DaytonMostMetro. Visit the Preservation Dayton website. Visit DaytonOS.com, ForTheLoveofDayton, ThisOldCrackHouse, Esrati.com, there are many more websites and blogs out there- you can find other links on all these sites. These sites are written by people who are living in Dayton right now, and they talk at length about the good and bad. Listen to their voices if you want to know what it’s like.
There is another opportunity to get the facts, and meet the people who are living there. Get Urban Miami Valley is a chance to hear the real story of what is happening right now in Dayton. Join Kyle Ezell on Oct. 4 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Webster St Market. Kyle will be the guest speaker, and representatives from downtown businesses, residents, and organizations will be there as well. Find out details about Get Urban Miami Valley here.
And, on the heels of that, South Park is hosting this year’s Rehabarama. What’s been happening in South Park? I posted about that on DaytonRE.com.
